Shadow to Light...

Yesterday was the first day of the weaving course "Shadow to Light" with Helena Hernmarck. It was an intense and exciting day with the participants as they started to work with their designs and got settled in the looms. Here is what the studio looked like before they arrived.

One can pick their favorite handwoven carpet sample to sit on. The samples can be as old as 60 years and they are a part of Alice Lund Textilier's archives. Their strength and sustainability is well tested by us and the visitors of the studio.

Here are some of the yarns that the participants can use if they want to.

And here Helena is giving an introduction to her technique. Now we have two weeks to dive into wools and warp to try and understand the mystery of shadow to light.
