New adventures in the loom

Although we are still working on Helena's wonderful "Passing Fall", we are also preparing for a new comission in the studio, a flatweave (röllakan) rug that we will start weaving next year. And the sketch from the archives needs a bit of investigating before we can start with the weaving...

Lovely moments in the loom

Very slowly but surely I am progressing in the loom with my rug. It is not often I find the time to sit down by the loom, but those moments I cherish very much.

Snapshots from the studio

A snapshot of another project in the making at the studio, Efter Regattan. Just the finishing touches left. If you are interested in seeing more of our textile life in the studio, Alice Lund Textilier now has an Instagram page that you can follow.

Secrets

On occasion we have a project in the studio that can not been shown to the world. Right now we are working on a very interesting rug for a new client which I unfortulatly can not show any pictures of yet. Although I can reveal that we are using a lot of an amazing yarn from South Africa - handcarded and handspun mohair. It is like touching a fluffy cloud.

Exhibition: Broderi Nu

Last weekend I went to a small but interesting exhibition about contemporary embroidery outside of Stockholm, "Broderi Nu" in Österåkers konsthall. There were both young and old, experienced and new artists participating and I am happy to see that there is a lot going on in the embroidery field at the moment. There were eight artists represented, Lillevi Hultman, Anne Löser Sörensen, Kicken Ericson, Teresa Oscarsson, Jennie McMillen, Tabea Dürr, Karin Holmberg and Renée Rudebrant. I especially liked Jennie McMillen's piece "Samlingsplats" ("Meeting Point"), Teresa Oscarsson's wonderfully mysterious work and Karin Holmberg's embroidered life story of M.O.D. (a fictional women called Marta Olofsdotter).
